Winning Advice for Gambling 6-10
6 Understand house edge and losing in the long run.
Any game that the house has a significant edge means that in the long run you will lose. Sometimes you may be up and sometimes you may be down, but over time it is the house that wins. Play games where there is a low house edge and ones you have some skill at.
7 Understand winning streaks.
We have all had them; it feels like we can do nothing wrong and every play is a winner. This is just chance, there is no luck involved. For every winning streak there is a losing streak. Learn to quit while you are ahead and also when you are down!
8 Calculate the cost of play.
Work out how much it is actually costing you to spend time in a casino. Look at the house edge and the rate you win or lose and your average bet. Factor in free drinks and see if it is worth your play.
9 Be OK with Losing.
To be a successful gambler, and when we say successful we mean happy, you need to be OK with losing. Winning and losing go together hand in hand.
10 Gambling can be addictive.
It is well known that people do develop gambling problems. When you find that you are getting into debt or trouble through gambling then get help. As with any addiction, if it is affecting any other aspect of your life i.e. relationships, job, friends etc. then get help.
