Rules and Regulations

Welcome to Mrs. Video Poker’s rules and regulations page. Use this page to check up on any particular rules you may have missed out on before moving on to the tips section. The idea of entering a game such as video poker without fully understanding each and every rule is not a good one whatsoever!

The rules for online video poker

The rules that govern the playing of online Video Poker games really could not be much simpler. For those who have played casino video poker, you’ll be right into the swing of things in next to no time.

When you play Video Poker rules do vary a little from site to site, but are basically as follows:

Insert your cash into the machine you want to play
Select the “Deal” or “Draw” button
View your cards, and select which ones you want to keep. Select the “Hold” button.
Press the “Deal” or “Draw” button again.
This process can be repeated, until you are happy with your selection.
Play the game, and hopefully your hand will turnover and be the winning hand.
Collect your winnings.

Whether you are playing casino video poker, or online video poker, the winning hand combinations remain the same. For a quick refresher, or as an introduction, here they are in their entirety:

Jacks or Better: A pair only wins if it’s Jacks or higher. Anything of lesser value is not counted.
Kings or Better: As before, Kings and Aces only take the win. Anything lower is not considered a winning Video Poker hand.
Two Pair: 2 sets of pairs, with the same value.
Three of a Kind: As above, with 3 cards.
Four of a Kind: 4 cards with the same value.
Five of a Kind: Same as above, with the addition of a Wild Card.
Straight: 5 Un-suited consecutive cards.
Flush: 5 cards of the same suit. Not consecutive.
Straight Flush: 5 cards of the same suit, running consecutively.
Royal Flush: All 5 cards in the same suit, running from 10 thru Ace.
Wild Royal Flush: Identical to a Royal Flush, but with a Wild Card.

Sometimes in Draw Poker you can have the option to double your money in a second round, if you win your first hand. This is not an obligation however, and just an offer. You do not have to play.

There are a number of the bigger online video poker casinos that even link Progressive Jackpots to Royal Flush hands, and other seldom seen combinations, in a drive to stand apart from the plethora of sites joining the craze. If you are lucky enough to join up to one of these, and you manage to get a Royal Flush, you could end up leaving with literally millions!

Please remember to check the individual rules and regulations of each site, as they will differ – sometimes immensely. The next page you should be visiting is the Strategy and Tips section, hopefully helping you on your way to making a decent amount of money with video poker (whilst having a lot of fun!).
