Bad beat
This is a loss where the losing player originally had better odds on the winning player earlier in the game.
Back door flush
A 3 card flush that requires that suited cards on the turn and the river to complete.
Bag
This is an English term for “thousand”.
Bank
Video poker machines in one row.
Banker
He or she is the dealer.
Bank roll
The funds that the player or casino must support or have to make or pay the bets.
Belly buster
This is an inside straight draw, same as gunshot. This is also known as a Gutshot.
Bonus poker
This poker is a variation of Jacks or Better video poker games.
Barred or Banned
Not allowed to play in the casino. Also used for online casinos.
Bet
The wager. Funds that a player offers to the casino in order to bet.
Betting limits
The limits, higher or lower, of funds that a player can wager on any given bet. Casinos have their own rules as to what these limits are.
Blind bet
A wager bet by the player without them seeing what cards they have.
Blinds
This is a forced bet in Texas Hold `em poker games. Before the game beings, this small bet is a requirement and is added to the pot prior to any cards dealt. Usually, the players are to the left of the dealer, and they will be required to wager half of the minimum bet during the first round. The big blind sits to the left of the small blind and they are forced to place a wager that is the same as the whole bet in the pot.
Book
A bet is accepted.
Break even point
A gambling expression to state the point where if a player played forever, their bets and winnings would equal the same.
Buck
This is a $100 wager.
Bug
The Joker.
Bump
To raise a wager.
Burn cards
These are cards that the croupier or dealer has not dealt and are placed in the discard tray.
Bust
A hand that has failed to improve after a draw.
Buy in
To purchase chips. Typically, to convert cash into chips, either at the table or the bank
